Our beautiful vintage indigo cloth from West Africa is now available in a jacket form. I am excited to present you with the Aurora kimono. Inspired by the Japanese arts of wabi sabi and boro.
'Boro', literally translates to “tatters,” or “scraps of cloth” in Japanese and is a symbol of a “use everything and waste nothing” philosophy. Each piece of indigo is unique, growing in its artfulness and character with each tear-then-repair, continuing for countless years. Each jacket is patched and stitched with love, creating in each a one of a kind piece of wearable art. Boro also exemplifies the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, in that the fabric reflects the beauty of natural wear and use.
***Made from a vintage textile that is stunning in its ruggedness, each piece is unique in its indigo tone and some may be darker than what is depicted in the photo. The cloth is handwoven in narrow strips then hand sewn together to create a large throw like piece. Please be aware that this fabric is vintage - which is what gives it its gorgeous faded indigo tone - but with that some imperfections are to be expected such as small worn areas and age spots. We encourage you to embrace the wabi-sabi aesthetic and mend and treat it with special care so you can enjoy it for years to come.
The jacket fits oversized and one size fits most.
Shoulder to hem 28"
The model is 5.3".
